Started in 2008, ElShaddai Centre is a NGO supporting refugees, asylum-seekers, stateless people groups, and other marginalized diaspora communities in Malaysia. We also extend our supports to international students who are away from their countries to study in Malaysia. They are from China, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Middle East, Africa and many other countries. ElShaddai Centre works with different partners to provide different services to walk alongside international students who face various challenges in their life while they are away from their homes and families.
Service 1: Walk Alongside
We provide online young graduates and working adults to walk alongside international students who are studying in Malaysia. These young graduates and working adults are from different from different countries and have experience in counselling, coaching, soft skill management and other life skills.
Service 2: Learn to Bless Refugees
We bring international students to do humanitarian community service to refugees and undocumented families who are staying nearby campuses. We work closely with UNHCR to provide education, social work, social enterprise and healthcare.
Service 3: Speak Smarter
We link international students to language teachers from different countries who teach English/Chinese/Bahasa Malaysia. Regular social interactive activities will be organised for students to practise with speakers of the respective languages from all walks of life. These activities can help students adapt faster into the different cultures in Malaysia through a wider circle of friends.
Service 4: Feel at Home
We gather with international students in homes and cafes for meals, sharing life stories and making new friends. We learn to live in harmony in diverse communities of different ethnicities.
